Description:

This 3-hour workshop is designed for mental health professionals who seek to enhance their clinical documentation skills. The adage "If it wasn't documented, it never happened" underscores the critical role that thorough and precise record-keeping plays in therapy. Whether you are a seasoned therapist or new to the field, this workshop will provide valuable insights and practical tools to strengthen your documentation process.

Objectives:

Enhance Documentation Skills: Participants will learn to apply best practices in clinical documentation, ensuring that all sessions are recorded accurately and comprehensively. This includes understanding what constitutes effective progress notes, treatment plans, and informed consent forms.

Legal and Ethical Considerations: Attendees will gain knowledge about the legal and ethical implications of documentation in therapy, including confidentiality, privacy laws, and the role of documentation in liability and ethical decision-making.

Integration of Documentation into Therapeutic Process: Participants will be able to utilize documentation as a tool to improve client outcomes, using notes to track progress, identify patterns, and plan treatment strategies effectively.

Although this information will be generalized for all mental health supervisors, part of our discussion will be specific to laws and regulations in the state of Colorado.

This 3-hour live webinar will be led by presenters:

Julie A. Jacobs, Psy.D., J.D. (Psychologist and Mental Health lawyer)

Liliana Baylon, LMFT-S, RPT-S (MFT, Licensure Supervisor in CO & TX, Consultant/Supervisor in several therapy models, internship instructor)
